Who we are:

     Thomas J. Thomson, Professional Consultants, or TJTPC, was founded in 1988 by Tom Thomson and his father, John L. (Larry) Thomson, to service the security needs of Credit Unions, Banks, and other financial institutions. Tom was a full time police officer in the Metro Detroit area, and Larry was the CEO and General Manager of a large suburban Detroit Credit Union, and had over 22 years experience in financial institution management. The firm was originally formed to perform background checks on credit union employees, to comply with new laws, such as the F.I.R.R.E.A. Law of 1989. This law was enacted to make Credit Unions and other Federally Insured Trusts more secure, because of the savings and loan scandals of the eighties. After the business was launched, it was soon discovered that there were many other services that their combined experience could offer to  clients.

     Over the years, the firm developed into a full service investigative agency, servicing many other types of business organizations and individuals, in all areas of the investigative field of practice. TJTPC has continued to grow to meet the specialized needs of business, and the investigative needs of individuals, logging thousands of cases in every area of criminal and civil investigation.

     In 1996, shortly after Larry retired from the Credit Union business, he unexpectedly passed away. Tom and his wife Donna, who was a sheriff's deputy for many years, carried on the business with the assistance of their two sons, and other relatives, all of whom had experience in law enforcement, financial services, or business management professions. Over the past 30 years, Tom has engaged in all forms of civil and criminal investigation, not only through the agency, but also in his full time career as a police officer. Tom left the police force as a lieutenant in 2002, and has carried on the tradition, and high standards of the business with the assistance of his family members, and the thousands of contacts he  developed over his many years in the investigative field, from all walks of life, and in all areas of business.

     During his twenty-two years on the police force in Metro-Detroit, Tom spent half of his career assigned as an investigator or detective for the government. Tom successfully investigated thousands of crimes, ranging from the most minor ordinance violations, to capital offenses such as Criminal Sexual Contact and Homocide. While working full time, running the agency, and raising a family, he managed to earn three college degrees, and dozens of certifications in every area of investigation imaginable. Because the police department recognized his investigative abilities, he was fortunate enough to hold almost every position on the force. He started as a cadet the day after graduating from high school, and quickly moved through the positions of patrolman, juvenile justice officer, detective, sergeant, detective sergeant, and finally lieutenant. Tom had the tremendous ability to solve crimes, and settle problems that nobody else could. During this time he became one of the most highly decorated officers on the department, and had the opportunity to hold many positions that dealt with special investigative services, such as Directed Patrol, Community Policing, School Liason, Public Relations, Media Officer, Block Club Network Liason, Cultural Diversity Training Specialist. Tom developed the talent and techniques to handle many quality of life issues, not typically handled by police departments, making him very popular, and well know within the community as a problem solver. Tom also developed his own method for interview, and interrogation that lead to a 100% conviction rate. Most of these convictions were based solely on confessions by suspects, who's cases would have remained unsolved, and unproven otherwise. Tom's cases were successfully prosecuted in all levels of State and Federal Court, with only one loss in his entire career. These cases ranged from civil infractions, to First Degree Murder. Tom became so well known from his ability to secure confessions, that he was used by many other departments to help them conduct interviews on complicated, and high profile cases. Even though Tom has left the department, he is frequently called to assist government clients, in the pursuit of political and government corruption.      TJTPC offers a wide variety of investigative services, and specializes in many areas not handled by a typical investigative firm. All of the services offered by TJTPC are done at very affordable rates, making his services available to the average person, while still giving them the attention, and results that he would if they were a Fortune 500 company. Investigations such as fraud, larceny, employee dishonesty and pilferage, sexual harassment, embezzlement, proprietary rights and document theft, trade secret security, domestic problems such as infidelity, parental fitness, custodial problems, helping to get children out of harmful environments, and many, many others. Through the use of old fashioned police work, combined with the highly technical field evolved in the investigative profession over the years, Tom and his colleagues have developed a very talented network of investigators, and sources of information, that is surpassed by none!

     TJTPC is well trained and experienced in all fields of investigation, being certified in many areas of investigation currently used by law enforcement agencies worldwide. TJTPC employs the same advanced technology used by many government and law enforcement agencies, and has developed access to information that is not even commonly available to them!
